Objetivo:
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports the development of new exploratory research in cancer diagnosis, treatment, imaging, symptom/toxicity, and prevention clinical trials; correlative studies associated with clinical trials; novel cancer therapeutic, symptom/toxicity, and preventive agent development, radiotherapy development activities, and mechanism-driven combinations; and innovative preclinical studies–including the use of new clinically-relevant models and imaging technologies–which could lead to first-in-human clinical trials. The R21 mechanism is intended to encourage exploratory and developmental research projects by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of these projects. These studies may involve considerable risk, but may lead to a breakthrough in a particular area, or to the development of novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could have a major impact on a field of cancer research (pre-clinical or clinical).

Objetivo:
The European Society of Surgical Oncology (Esso) was established in 1981 to advance the art, science and practice of surgery for the treatment of cancer. The Esso Education Committee offers a number of Training Fellowships to support trainees in Surgical Oncology. The aim of these fellowships is to allow young surgeons to visit a specialist centre outside of their own country, and help them expand their experience and learn new techniques.

The Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (JSPN) was established in 1902 initially as the Japanese Society of Neurology under the management of the psychiatrist HidezoKure and the internist Kinnosuke Miura with a membership of about 200. The journal of the society, the Neurologia Japonica, was published in the same year. The Fellowship Award is presented to early-career psychiatrists from Asia and around the world. The purpose of the Award is to recognize early-career, outstanding psychiatrists and to encourage academic discussion and personal friendships with early-career Japanese psychiatrists at the 114th Annual Meeting of the JSPN.
